Our Story

My name is Laken James and I am the Founder of Five Star Academy. I am a former D1 College Women's Basketball play and currently living out my dream of playing professionally basketball. 

​

The journey towards my dreams were far from easy. There were times when I completely lost my confidence and even times when I felt like giving up. I've been on that the edge of wanting to quit but I never did. I kept pushing through. I learned how to fight through adversity and break down my mental barriers. Fighting through the hard times made the reward of reaching my dreams that much sweeter. During my journey, I learned so much about myself and I grew as a person. Some of my greatest life lessons were taught during my sports journey.

That's why I created Five Star Academy because I want to make sure that the next generation of athletes never give up on their dream and never feel alone during their journey. With passion and persistence I want them to discover the leader they can become and most importantly, for them to strive to become the best version of themselves. Sports are only temporary but the lessons we learn from sports are forever.

Our mission at Five Star Academy is simple: We want to inspire the next generation of athletes to be the best they can be so that they too can change the world. We dream of 

 

help YOU become the best YOU possible. We want to unlock a Five Star you. We all have different goals and we are all on different sport journeys but it's our dream to help you reach yours.
